Abstract

O que é o rock gaúcho? Como entender um rótulo que abarca bandas de diferentes estilos, ao longo das últimas décadas? Quais relações podem ser estabelecidas entre o rock e a cultura tradicional gaúcha? No presente trabalho, buscamos analisar o rótulo “rock gaúcho” a partir da cobertura realizada por veículos da imprensa nacional, e mobilizamos autores como Frith (1996) e Janotti Jr. (2003) para a discussão de temáticas que relacionam rock e identidade cultural. Ademais, trazemos o conceito de estrutura de sentimento (WILLIAMS, 1979) para refletir sobre a gênese do estilo no contexto da cultura gaúcha e entendê-lo na contemporaneidade. Como forma de análise inicial, realizamos uma investigação a partir da cobertura de cinco periódicos nacionais – Diário Catarinense (SC), Diário de Pernambuco (PE), Estado de Minas (MG), Folha de S. Paulo (SP) e O Globo (RJ) – com base nos materiais disponibilizados pelos sites dos veículos.
