Abstract

Este artigo discute algumas continuidades entre os movimentos modernista brasileiro e do cinema novo, retendo o que de comum conecta os fios de suas idéias. Mostra ainda a presença do cinema na linguagem revolucionária e inovadora da expressão artística do início do século, e como suas características se prestaram à atualização dos elementos da arte e cultura populares, sobretudo em Mário e Oswald de Andrade.

Professora da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais com Doutorado em Comunicação e Semiótica pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1998) e Pós-doutorado em Cinema brasileiro pela Universidade de São Paulo (2007).
