The findings highlight the consolidation of microbial electrosynthesis as a key technology for the bioeconomy, carbon neutralization, and organic waste valorization, underscoring its innovative potential in industrial and educational applications and the need for interdisciplinary investment aligned with public policies.
Rafael da Silva Oliveira Holanda, Fabiane Caxico de Abreu Galdino Copyright (c) 2025 Cadernos de Prospecção https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://revbaianaenferm.ufba.br/index.php/nit/article/view/67210 Wed, 01 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Technological Prospection of Patents on Plant Extracts for Cutaneous Leishmaniasis: gaps and innovation opportunities https://revbaianaenferm.ufba.br/index.php/nit/article/view/67883
Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is a neglected disease with high incidence in Brazil, where biodiversity represents a largely unexplored source for innovative therapies. Despite its epidemiological relevance and advances in research on plant extracts, there is a gap between scientific production and intellectual property protection, reflected in the low number of patents, especially at the national level. This study aimed to: (i) map patents related to the use of plant extracts in the treatment of CL; (ii) identify technological gaps and innovation opportunities; and (iii) propose strategies to strengthen the intellectual protection of natural assets. The methodology consisted of a technological prospecting conducted in the INPI, Espacenet, and Patentscope databases (2008–2025), using descriptors and IPC/CPC codes. Patents were screened for therapeutic relevance, duplicate exclusion, and categorization. A total of 18 patents were identified, three in INPI, with predominance of topical formulations. The results highlight a mismatch between academic production and intellectual protection, as well as the underrepresentation of Brazilian biodiversity, reinforcing the importance of integrated policies.
Aurileya de Jesus Gouveia, Maria Clara Camilo da Silva, Carolina Bioni Garcia Teles, Minelly Azevedo da Silva Copyright (c) 2025 Cadernos de Prospecção https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://revbaianaenferm.ufba.br/index.php/nit/article/view/67883 Wed, 01 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Editorial https://revbaianaenferm.ufba.br/index.php/nit/article/view/70148
Editorial

Boa leitura!

Professor Dr. Saulo Guerra
Diretor da Agência Unesp de Inovação
@auin_unesp
Saulo Philipe Sebastião Guerra Copyright (c) 2025 Cadernos de Prospecção https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://revbaianaenferm.ufba.br/index.php/nit/article/view/70148 Wed, 01 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Ficha Técnica https://revbaianaenferm.ufba.br/index.php/nit/article/view/70146 Denise Aparecida Bunn Copyright (c) 2025 Cadernos de Prospecção https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://revbaianaenferm.ufba.br/index.php/nit/article/view/70146 Wed, 01 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0000 TT’s and TCS’s: comparison of contractual models for technological development and innovation https://revbaianaenferm.ufba.br/index.php/nit/article/view/65248
The main objective of this study is to reflect on the dynamics between the public domain and Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for their protection in the context of technological innovation. Thus, the study analyzes Traditional Knowledge (TK’s) and Traditional Cultural Expressions (TCE’s) in their relationship with technological development and innovation, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for their protection and application. TK’s and TCE’s encompass practices, knowledge and cultural expressions of indigenous and local communities, often commercially exploited without adequate regulation. This study presents a bibliometric review, using databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, to understand the dynamics between TK’s, TCE’s, intellectual property and innovation. The results indicate the importance of contractual models and public policies that guarantee both cultural protection and technological advancement. It is concluded that the valorization and protection of TK’s and TCE’s are strategic for the promotion of sustainable innovation and social justice.
