Materials Methods: This is an exploratory-descriptive study. Results: A total of 24 preceptors were interviewed. Regarding the performance of the preceptor and his conceptions and practices in the articulation with the service, the articulation between care activities and preceptorship activities is highlighted; the identification of learning opportunities for the student in the field of preceptorship; the articulation between theory and practice, emphasizing the dynamics, diversity and uniqueness of the situations in the field of action of the preceptorship; the stimulus to the student to exercise problematization, identifying a problem and seeking practical and feasible solutions; and the belief that the use of active methodologies can help the student in decision-making and protagonism in practice scenarios. Conclusion: The perception of preceptors about teaching-learning AM is of great importance for the construction of actions that meet their pedagogical needs for the training process of new health professionals.
