Objective: to evaluate the impact of educational interventions on the learning of dentists from the Unified Health System (SUS) about oral and oropharyngeal cancer. Methodology: a community trial conducted with dentists from the public service in two Health Macroregions (MRS1 and MRS2) of the state of Alagoas, Brazil. The study was conducted through learning modules. Four intervention moments, called learning modules, were carried out over 12 months. In the first module, there was only one traditional class; in the second, the TBL method was included; in the third and fourth modules, the rotation station method was included. From the 2nd module onwards, two groups followed: control (lecture) and experimental group (active learning). The active methodologies used were gamification (Kahoot), TBL, and rotation station learning. Performance assessment was done by grades with a score from 0 to 10. Results: in the 1st Module, there was an improvement in post-lecture grades. In Module 2, post-lecture grades were significantly higher in the control group. In Modules 3 and 4, grades were significantly higher in the experimental group compared to the Traditional group (p < 0.001). There was an improvement in post-lecture grades in all modules. Conclusion: educational interventions improved dentists' knowledge. The active methodology can be incorporated as a continuing education strategy in the public health network of the SUS.
