This essay tries to reveal and discuss the narrative procedures used by the movie The Passenger (Italy, France, 1975), directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, aiming to the deconstruction of the genre or subgenre idea (thriller, road-movie, investigated report), as well as on a certain “journalism objectivity”. At its first part, this movie has thematically approached to other contemporary works, where the foreign correspondent plays the role of the main character, covering wars and guerillas in the Third World. In other hand, at its second part, it is associated with the purpose of the reflexive movie. Our approach is based on the intertextuality among a purpose of a “Sociology of the foreigner”, as in G. Simmel; and the contributions of Cultural Studies for the analysis of contemporary audiovisual.Downloads
