Event and life trajectory: the construction of a charismatic celebrity

This paper aims at discussing the end of Ronaldo Nazário de Lima’s career as a soccer player, an event that promoted biographic reports. The analytic grid has three categories: description; narration; and constitution of publics. The analysis of Ronaldo’s “symbolic death” allows apprehending his life route as well as the values and gifts attached to his image – and which configure him as a charismatic celebrity.Downloads
