Abstract

Há pouco mais de dez anos, nos Chiapas, foram criados espaços para a expressão artís- tica em que jovens falantes de uma língua indígena, do Sul do México, expressam a sua criatividade através da música, fotografia, pintura, literatura, grafite, ou em produções de vídeo ou rádio. Com estes produtos culturais, alguns resultados de políticas culturais locais e outros de iniciativas individuais ou coletivas, jovens tornam-se visíveis como novos sujeitos urbanos. Eles são atores sociais que se apropriam dos espaços públicos, onde expressam seus imaginários sobre o amor e etnias. Este artigo analisa uma dessas práticas criativas adotadas pelos jovens: a música indigena na cena rock em Los Altos de Chiapas e suas conexões com os processos de globalização. Eles criam as culturas juvenis inovadoras e formas de vida, socialização e interação com os colegas para além das fronteiras territoriais, comunitárias ou linguísticas.
