Scientific and Technological Prospecting of Applications for Water Classification and Soil Characterization in Agriculture

Abstract

In the Brazilian semi-arid region, the scarcity of good-quality water leads many farmers to use saline water for irrigation, which can compromise crop development in saline environments. With Agriculture 4.0, the adoption of technologies has become essential to optimize irrigation. This research aimed to identify innovations and applications that provide recommendations on water quality classification and soil characterization. Sources such as INPI, Google Play Store, Apple Store, Scopus, SciELO, IEEE Xplore, PatentScope®, Espacenet®, and Questel Orbit® were analyzed, using keywords such as application, agriculture, water, soil, software, mobile, app, water, and agriculture, with the connectors "AND" and "OR". The research revealed a lack of mobile applications in this segment, with only one application from the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid Region (Ufersa) and a prototype from the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) standing out. The scarcity of technological solutions highlights the need for further development in the sector, especially to support farmers with limited access to technical assistance in family farming.
