From the Classroom to Virtual Environments: exploring the bibliometric intersection between education, intellectual property, metaverse, and virtual reality

Abstract

This study aimed to map the scientific production in the field of education, based on the intersection between education, intellectual property, the metaverse, and virtual reality. The data were collected from the Scopus platform and analyzed using RStudio and Biblioshiny software tools. The search terms used were “Education” and “Intellectual Property” and “Metaverse” or “Virtual Reality”. The analysis revealed a limited number of publications dedicated to this topic in the proposed fields of study, identifying only seven articles. The scientific production of articles fluctuated between the years 1999 and 2024, peaking in 2023. China stood out as the country with the highest scientific production, with two publications. Each journal involved in this study contributed by publishing one article. Additionally, the study presents 12 relevant research themes and 10 trending topics for the field of study investigated here.
