This article discusses the meanings and imaginaries of the energy transition in the context of climate change from the perspective of Culture. The work presents a bibliographic review in the area of Energy Humanities, understanding energies as a historical, social product and cultural phenomenon. It also analyzes the narrative of the energy transition of the model being implemented in Bahia, based on a critical reading from Political Ecology and Cultural Studies. The results insert the transition into the symbolic disputes surrounding decarbonization, highlighting the hijacking of future projects by the narrative created by Green Capitalism. Inspired by ecofeminist and countercolonial contributions, it seeks to broaden horizons for an ecosocial transition that is more just, plural and inclusive. And it points out the urgency of including the perspectives of traditional peoples as inspiration for the creation of an energy culture that goes beyond the limits of the hegemonic vision.
