Performance of the beef cattle in Alagoas state

Abstract

This work was conducted to evaluate the performance of calves Nellore and cross and to study the influence of the fixed effects on performance of these animals in the State of Alagoas. The traits were studied weight at birth (WB), the weaning weight (WW), daily weight gain of birth to weaning (GBW). Three models were employed for to study WB. The first model included the effects of farm, genotype, sex, year and month of birth nestled into the year and sex and genotype interaction. The second model included the effects of genotype, sex and month of birth and sex and genotype interaction. And third, the effects of farm, sex, year and month nestled into year. The WW and GBW was evaluated the effects of months of weaning, sex, genotype, sex and genotype interaction and the weaning age covariable. All statistical analysis of this work was made using the procedure GLM of SAS ®. Animals cross ½ Nellore + ½ Blonde and the “three cross” were higher for the WB on the other, indicating additive and non-additive effects. Genotype “three cross” were higher for WW. The crossing animals were higher than Nellore for GBW.

Aluna de graduação de Zootecnia pela Universidade Federal de Alagoas - UFAL. Tem experiência na área de Zootecnia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: cruzamentos em bovinos e ovinos, estudo de recursos genéticos locais, pastagens e reprodução animal.

Angelina Bossi Fraga

possui graduação em Zootecnia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1992), mestrado em Genética e Melh0ramento Animal pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1996) e doutorado em Zootecnia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2001). Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Federal de Alagoas. Tem experiência na área de Zootecnia, com ênfase em Aspectos Genéticos da Infestação de Bovinos Por Carrapatos e Moscas dos Chifres, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: ovinos, santa inês, peso ao nascer, ovinos deslanados e mosca-dos-chifres.

Afonso Marinho Espíndola Filho

possui graduação em Medicina Veterinária pela Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (1977) , especialização em Produção Animal pela Universidade Federal de Lavras (1987) e mestrado em Zootecnia pela Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (1985) . Atualmente é Professor Adjunto da Universidade Federal de Alagoas. Tem experiência na área de Zootecnia , com ênfase em Pastagem e Forragicultura. Atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Conservação de forragem, fenação, nutrição animal.

Amaro Calheiro Pedrosa

possui graduação em Agronomia pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (1970) , mestrado em Nutricão Animal e Pastagens pela Universidade de São Paulo (1977) , doutorado em Physiologie Végétale Appliquee pela Universite de Paris VI (Pierre et Marie Curie) (1981) , pos-doutorado pela Ecole Nationale Superieure Agronomique de Toulouse (1987) e aperfeicoamento em Curso Intensivo de Manejo e Utilization de Pastos pelo Centro Agronomico Tropical de Investigacion Y Ensenanza (1978) . Atualmente é Professor Adjunto IV da Universidade Federal da Paraíba. Tem experiência na área de Zootecnia , com ênfase em Produção Animal. Atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Ray-Grass de Italie, Production, rCoissance, Fumure Azotée, Irrigation.
