Abstract

Abstract
This technical report addresses the experience of two students from the Public Administration
and Social Management undergraduate program at the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA) in
a university extension project entitled “Reading Circles: Pathways to Sociocultural and Civic
Formation.” The project, carried out in partnership with a professor of Library Science,
aimed primarily to develop reading circles to improve the reading and writing skills of
fifth-grade students at a public school in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará. The students recognized
the importance of making adjustments to the planning during the project’s implementation,
which helped establish a connection between practice and curricular content. The project
contributed to multidisciplinary academic training by articulating teaching, research, and
extension. In addition, this report seeks to analyze how the project can contribute to the
professionalization of Brazilian public management, reflect on the extensionists’ experience,
and highlight the partnership between the university and the participating school.
