We all live on the same planet and are part of the biosphere.

We now recognize that we are in a situation of increasing interdependence and that our future is inseparable from the preservation of life systems throughout the world and the perpetuation of all life forms.

Nations and scientists around the world must recognize the urgent need to use knowledge from all areas of science responsibly to meet the needs and aspirations of humanity, without misusing that knowledge.

We seek to establish active collaboration encompassing all scientific fields, namely the natural sciences, such as the physical and biological sciences and the Earth sciences, the biomedical sciences and the engineering sciences, as well as the social and human sciences.

Science must serve all of humanity, it must contribute to a deeper understanding of nature and society for all, ensuring a better quality of life and providing present and future generations with a sustainable and healthy environment.
