Nurses who work in urgent and emergency care play an important role in the healthcare system, being essential in ensuring that patients receive quality care at critical times. Objective: to evaluate the quality of life (QoL) of nursing professionals in the emergency sector, COVID ward and COVID ICU in a hospital in the North of Mato Grosso. Method: quantitative, analytical and exploratory research. Two instruments (socioprofessional and WHOQOL-Bref) were applied in February and March 2022 to a sample of 30 professionals. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Universidade Luterana do Brasil (CAAE- 53146721.1.0000.5349). Results: QoL was satisfactory (66.7). Among the respondents, a positive relationship was found with age and the psychological domain (r=0.409; p=0.025) and an association between QoL and weekly workload and the quality of user care (p<0.05). Furthermore, professionals who worked in the ward, who felt less technically competent and who did not know how to act in various emergency situations, had lower QoL (p<0.05). Conclusion: the research identified vulnerabilities found in professionals who work in the urgency and emergency sectors of a hospital. Health institutions must provide actions and programs aimed at the well-being of professionals working in these sectors, as these are essential for saving lives and providing high-quality care.
