Objective: the study aimed to evaluate the impact of a structured Oral Health Education (OHE) program on the gingival health of 8-year-old students in Erbil City. Methods: seventy-five 8-year-old primary school pupils from Erbil City, Iraq, participated in the study. A pre-and post-intervention design was used, with gingival health assessed at baseline and after the program. The educational intervention consisted of lessons on proper oral hygiene practices, including tooth brushing and flossing techniques, reinforced with interactive sessions and visual aids. Results: the intervention led to significant improvements in oral health indices and behaviors, with substantial reductions in the Plaque Index (PI) and Gingival Index (GI) (p ≤ 0.001). Tooth brushing frequency increased, and fluoridated toothpaste use rose significantly. Conclusion/Final Considerations: the school-based Oral Health Education program positively impacted gingival health, emphasizing the need for preventive oral health initiatives in educational settings.
