A DESCRIPTIVE-COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF TWO TRANSLATIONS OF BOB DYLAN'S BLOWIN' IN THE WIND INTO BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE
Abstract
The aim of this article is to carry out a descriptive-comparative analysis of two translations into Brazilian Portuguese of the song Blowin’ In The Wind by the American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, from the album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, released by Columbia (1963). To this end, a qualitative study will be carried out, comparing the two translations of the song by Luís Louceiro in the book Bob Dylan: a estrada revisitada (1992) and by Caetano W. Galindo in the book Bob Dylan: letras 1961 – 1974 (2017). The work involves an objective and comparative analysis of the two translations, establishing relationships with the original text written in English. This involves observing the strategies and choices made by these translators, as well as analyzing the characteristic elements of Dylan’s poetry, based on objective and rational arguments, as outlined by the paths established by translation scholars. This study, which is academic, theoretical and comparative in nature, is based on the propositions and approaches to translation formulated by Campos (1986, 1987), Arrojo (2007), Britto (2020), and Rónai (2021).
