This inaugural issue of Laje introduces its editorial project, dedicated to the production, circulation, and strengthening of decolonial studies, with an emphasis on the spatial dimensions of coloniality and South–South dialogues. The issue features the Volume 1: Cities and Architectures in Africa of the dossier African Cities, bringing together interviews, original translations, articles, a visual essay, and a book review by scholars from Africa, Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Collectively, these contributions challenge Eurocentric narratives of the city, architecture, and territory, foreground African epistemologies, and expand the critical repertoire of urban studies.
