Objective: This research aims to investigate the relationship between quality management and project management through the implementation of a management office in a non-profit organization as a way of qualifying the execution of its projects.
Methodology/approach: This research is qualitative and a case study was chosen because it allows the specific reality of an institution to be analyzed, with the collection and analysis of primary data through an interview with one of the institution's directors who works directly in the institution's project management.
Main results: As a result, the relationship between the application of project management with the aim of improving the quality of the institution and its ability to raise funds and manage them correctly was identified. The sum of the amounts raised since the implementation of the project management office alone has exceeded 2.2 million reais, while in the same period previously it had only raised 159 thousand reais. It was also possible to identify that project management has made it possible to establish quality standards and implement control processes that guarantee the delivery of high-quality results.
Academic contributions/Practical contributions: To this end, a theoretical review of quality management and project management was carried out with a focus on identifying the main concepts that will be used as a foundation for the construction of the data collection instrument. The premise is that there is a direct relationship between the proper use of project management having an impact on improving the quality of project execution and, consequently, on the quality of the institution.
