Periódicus Journal opens call for reviewers and launches continuous submission system

The Periódicus Journal, affiliated with the Multidisciplinary Graduate Program in Culture and Society at the Institute of Humanities, Arts and Sciences Professor Milton Santos (IHAC/UFBA), has opened a public call for the selection and registration of ad hoc reviewers. Call No. 01/2025 is open from May 13 to June 13, 2025, and applications must be submitted via an online form.

With over a decade of publication, Periódicus is a national and international reference in the dissemination of research on gender, sexuality, dissidence, decoloniality, culture, and society. In 2025, the journal adopts a new editorial policy: starting June 30, it will begin receiving submissions on a rolling basis, through a continuous flow system that allows greater agility and responsiveness in the academic publication process. “The continuous submission model strengthens our commitment to plurality and the urgency of contemporary debates. We are now able to welcome research in a more dynamic way, without depending exclusively on thematic dossiers,” states the Executive Editorial Board of Periódicus.

Reviewing for Periódicus is voluntary, and reviewers receive a certificate for each completed review, which can be added to the Lattes CV or equivalent academic profiles. The evaluation process follows a double-blind peer review system, using the Open Journal System (OJS). Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in one of the relevant fields—such as the humanities, social sciences, education, law, cultural studies—and demonstrate availability and commitment to deadlines. “Our peer reviewers are fundamental to ensuring ethical rigor and high-quality assessment. This call is for scholars who believe in the collective construction of knowledge and want to actively contribute to the circulation of critical thought,” affirms the editorial team. The full call and registration form are available on the journal’s website and social media profiles. Thematic dossier calls will remain open alongside the continuous submission system.
