Abstract

Starting from the constructions about bisexuality, regarding how this sexual and/or romantic orientation is often associated with values and behaviors seen as negative, especially its link with promiscuity, excessive sexual practices and infidelity, in this paper, we seek to develop, from a theoretical perspective, and in a preliminary way, an articulation between monosexuality and monogamy, both acting as a regulatory norm for relationships and affections in contemporary times. To this end, we opted for qualitative and exploratory research carried out through the framework of critical theory and gender studies. At the end of the theoretical elaboration path, we note the centrality of a monosexist and monogamous structure that is strengthened through morality and compulsory classifications of identities and desires, influencing in a similar way the bisexual experience and the non-monogamous experience.
