Abstract

Objective: to report the results of art therapy through expressive workshops to intern nurses. Method: exploratory
descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, with thematic analysis, which presents the experience felt and live by seven nursing professionals of the first year of residence, who participated in expressive workshops in a large hospital located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Results: the following themes emerged: the hospital environment as a stressful factor; art as a cathartic mechanism in the midst of emotional suffering; looking inward and finding balance; the use of art as an instrument to relax, relax and acquire new experiences; expanded concept of health and disease. Final considerations: art through expressive workshops brought positive impacts to nursing interns. Research shows that it is possible to promote health through art.
