Abstract

Objective: to analyze the profile and pattern of alcohol consumption among users of primary care services. Method: cross-sectional study carried out in two Primary Health Care Units in Minas Gerais, using a sociodemographic, clinical and behavioral questionnaire and the AUDIT. For analysis, descriptive statistics and logistic regression were used with 5% significance. Results: 415 users were interviewed, with a predominance of women, mixed race, married, with their own/rented house, evangelicals, with high school education and family income E, with more than one morbidity and sedentary. About 21.3% had problematic consumption and in the regression analysis there was an inverse association for women, evangelicals and non-smokers, while cohabiting marital status showed an association with problematic use. Conclusion: the consumption of alcoholic beverages can be associated with health problems, highlighting the PHC as a strategic place for screening and intervention in the problematic use of alcohol.
