CONTINUITY OF CARE FOR PATIENTS WITH SUICIDE IDEAS OR ATTEMPTS ATTENDED IN PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY

Abstract

Objective: to understand the continuity of care in the psychosocial care network for people treated in the urgent and emergency service with suicidal ideation or attempt. Methods: qualitative study, carried out using the thematic analysis technique, based on interviews with people who visited the urgent and emergency service of a hospital in the interior of São Paulo due to suicidal ideation or attempt, from January to December 2020. Results: the majority of participants are women and live without a partner, using, on average, three psychotropic drugs. In the analysis of the interviews, the themes were identified: difficulty in accessing services, lack of adherence to treatment, recurrence of ideas/attempts and improvement factors. Final considerations: given the results found, there is a need for greater investment in the psychosocial care network, to increase access for the population, improve the quality of care and support for these people.
