IDENTIFICATION OF STRESSORS FOR SELF INFLICTED INJURY: A CARE STRATEGY

Objective: to identify stressors as a strategy to promote nursing care that is directed to the needs of patients victims of self-inflicted injury. Method: a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive study with retrospective secondary data collection, taken at an emergency room in a trauma reference hospital in Curitiba. Results: The most reported stressors were difficulty accepting body and image (13,04%), heartbreak (11,59%), debt (11,59%), and exhausting jobs (8,70%). Conclusions: The findings highlight a gap in the information recorded in the charts and the need for ongoing education and training for nurses and the nursing team to ensure a sensitive and careful approach to the context in which the patient is situated. It highlights the opportunity to develop a tool to assist nurses in risk classification by addressing stress factors, thereby enabling the development of a care strategy in emergency settings.
