Abstract

This article aims to present an overview of patents from typical cerrado plants, as well as a review of the scientific literature to identify areas where new products and patents may be developed in the future. Thus, the text introduces the Brazilian cerrado biome and clarifies how the industrial property law protects patents from plant species. The results are determined from the specific discussion about each plant, with an analysis of the scientific literature and patents. In conclusion, it was found that the studied plant species have curative properties related to various diseases, as well as have industrial application in the cosmetic area, among others. It is expected that, in the future, studies about the Brazilian savannah and its flora will be deepened, in order to expand research on the subject, which has the potential to generate wealth in several sectors for Brazil.
