Abstract

The objective of the study was to analyze the thematic evolution of the research field on entrepreneurial ecosystems, based on articles published in English in the Web of Science (WoS) database using the expressions “entrepreneurial ecosystem” or “entrepreneurial ecosystems”, without defining a search period. To this end, a systematic review of the literature was carried out through a bibliometric study with citation-based analysis using the CitNetExplorer software, which allows visualizing and analyzing citation networks, applying the functionalities of core publication (cutting the most relevant articles), clustering (grouping similar publications) and drill down (creating a sub-network of publications). The results obtained indicate that the publications are recent and the main concern of the authors was to establish a definitive concept for the theme, since it was the cluster with 377 publications. Three other themes addressed were: sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems, entrepreneurship in universities and case studies of entrepreneurial ecosystems.
