Technological Prospection Study on the Antimicrobial Activity of Products Containing Ilex paraguariensis (yerba mate)

Abstract

Ilex paraguariensis (yerba mate) has a high concentration of bioactive compounds. This article aimed to conduct a technological prospecting study of formulations that utilize Ilex paraguariensis for antimicrobial action by search in the Orbit Intelligence database, where 232 records were identified. The European Office stood out with 140 records, followed by the United States with 135 and China with 98. It is noteworthy that regarding patents with antimicrobial action, there has been an increase since 2020, possibly due to the growing interest in studying, as more and more studies are being presented using mate in various markets and industrial sectors.
