Abstract

Sustainability in insurance sector practices has become an essential demand following the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. This article aims to analyze technological development in the insurance sector from an SDG perspective, identifying trends and opportunities that promote sustainable practices. Methodologically, it is a systematic literature review, using scientific articles obtained from the Scopus database and processed through the Biblioshiny software, resulting in the analysis of 331 articles, 36 reviews, and 2,055 keywords, with a focus on environmental economics, healthcare, climate change, and green finance. Technological prospecting was conducted in the European Patent Office’s patent database via Orbit®, covering 58,861 patents. The results indicate a growing interest in sustainable insurance and the potential of emerging technologies for the sector. It concludes that international collaboration and investment in R&D are essential to address challenges and promote sustainable and inclusive development in the insurance sector.
