Abstract

In this article, we consider the discussions about conceptual characters (Deleuze; Guattari, 2010) and the dramatization method (Deleuze, 2005) to examine the variations of the drag queen figure in Judith Butler's work (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022). Methodologically, we do a theoretical revision of Butler’s works until 2020. In this way we identify four variations of the drag queen related to the gender performative concept: the Impersonator drag queen, the Ambivalent drag queen, the Melancholic drag queen, and the Fantasizer drag queen. Each variation is analyzed concerning the distinct logic involved in the transformations of the gender performativity concept. Finally, instead of generalizing these figures it is necessary to proliferate other characters capable of dramatizing the logics of Latin American agencements, such as transformist cholitas, and drag thêmonias.
