Abstract

In this work, we conceptually articulate the apparatuses that allow us to identify and point to the monogamous system as a necessary analytical axis for studies on sexuality. Using the concept of a matrix of domination proposed by Patricia Hill Collins, the intersection between cisgenderity, heterosexuality and monogamy is analyzed as systems that sustain the political regime of sexuality in modernity/coloniality. Based on research into the field of sexual health, guided by the theoretical-methodological optic of the anthropology of domination, elements that emerge from the use of monogamy as an analytical axis are discussed, from the intersectional perspective as an investigative praxis, exposing the dynamics of citizenship through reproductive policies and the neo-colonial administration of cisheteromononormativity and good sex through the rhetoric of family planning as the prevailing logic in public health policies.
