A PARIDADE ESTÉTICA E TEMÁTICA EM CONTOS DE CLARICE LISPECTOR E MARIA TERESA HORTA

Abstract

Female emancipation is a topic widely explored in literary studies, especially in contemporary texts. Clarice Lispector, a modernist writer, inaugurated in Brazilian literature an intimate format for dealing with her narratives, commonly conducted through the stream of consciousness, in which the perspective is presented by a narrator revealing internal issues, reflected in aspects of memory and language. Maria Teresa Horta, Portuguese writer, also uses similar strands in terms of aesthetic and, especially, in thematics. In the short stories “A fuga” and “Lídia”, by the aforementioned writers, the narrators in both texts follow two women and their marital dilemmas: the first woman daydreams, while bathing, about a possibility of escaping the routine that violates her chaotic existential condition; the second develops a metamorphosis process similar to a delirium. When approaching the stories, we propose a reading without effective militant commitment, even though the perspective outlines combative contours. Names such as Boris Tomachevski (1971), Benedito Nunes (1992), Nobert Elias (1994) and Tzvetan Todorov (2003), among others, give new meaning to our thinking within literary criticism, making it possible to verify that internal conflicts caused by inflammations in marriages act as a point of intercession between the characters.
