THE CONSTRUCTION OF CONTEMPORARY GENDER WELL-BEING FROM THE LOOKS OF FOUCAULT AND BOURDIEU

Abstract

By reading the works of French philosophical authors such as Bourdieu and Foucault, the classics cited are used as a way of perceiving social, economic and gender inequalities in capitalist societies in terms of forms of domination. Male domination in Bourdieu's works, economic capital that generates inequalities in which many hold the lion's share of wealth among nations, by forming intelligent classes and those who have no rights to a life worthy of protection by the state.  In addition to social and symbolic inequalities and how the subject can reinvent themselves through struggle and resistance in a liquid and unequal world, in search of new ways of living, so that in the socio-economic and symbolic spheres they can let themselves live through resistance and self-government. The aim of the article is to describe how people have legal rules that appear to be equal before the law, but that, in practice, intolerance of race and gender, as well as socio-economic inequalities, of poor white people, for example, mean that the rights of classes with less chance of winning power, such as the LGBTQIA+ community, are minimized. The relevance and importance of the article goes beyond the socio-economic measurement of individuals and communicates with symbolic interactions of being and having, in the moral and ethical question of how the subject can govern themselves and others, even living in an unequal country like Brazil.
