Abstract

Created in 1962, the witch Sabrina was represented in several versions in comics, animations, TV shows and films. In 2018, in the context of the emergence of the #MeToo movement, the series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, released by Netflix, brought a narrative that addressed feminist themes, although limited by the contradictions of the cultural industry. Therefore, the series became the object of study in several fields. This article deals with a bibliographic review of academic productions in the field of Communication about the series, hopefully for the systematization of the results. It was concluded that, in general terms, the research starts from the study of the negative stereotypes associated with the figure of the witch in history to discuss patriarchal oppression through the feminist perspective, placing the series in the contemporary context and identifying the historical problems present in the struggle for autonomy of the protagonist in fiction, even if it is not exempt from reproducing racist stereotypes.
