Uma análise da linguagem não binária na série Sex Education

The representation of the LGBTQIA+ community is the agenda of different contexts of debate in contemporaneity. Including expressing different identities through language, and questioning the binary constructions present in the system. Movements to insert non-binary marks into language have taken hold, especially in social media. Taking into consideration the reach and influence of audiovisual works, this paper presents a study to investigate how non-binary language is used in the third season of Sex Education, by Netflix, in three formats, in the original language (English) in contrast to the subtitled and dubbed version in Portuguese. To conduct the research a theoretical study was held, and subsequently, an comparative analysis of the occurrences. It was observed that, even in a platform that proposes to deal with controversial issues, non-binary language is still a challenging theme. Therefore, it reinforces the importance of research on the linguistic system and its relationship with non-binary language. Discussing this topic is one of the steps to better understand it in an attempt to include all identities, as well as having the right to choose how to express one's identity through language is a right that must be defended.
